Ars Docendi Award for Excellence in Teaching

Milica Vujovic, Maja Kevdzija and Gabriel Wurzer were awarded a recognition prize by the international jury in the category ‘Research-based or art-led teaching’ for their module Research-Oriented Teaching for Healthcare Architecture: Data-Driven Design for Social Infrastructure.

The module prepares students to develop human-centred, evidence-based healthcare environments through a research-led, project-based format that combines qualitative and quantitative methods (e.g., interviews, observations, environmental measurements) with digital simulations and sensor-enabled, data-driven approaches, structured across four complementary courses. The module is coordinated by Milica Vujovic and taught by Milica Vujovic, Maja Kevdzija, and Gabriel Wurzer.

What is Ars Docendi? Ars Docendi is Austria’s state prize for excellent higher-education teaching, awarded by the Federal Ministry for Women, Science and Research (BMFWF) since 2013. It is awarded in five categories (total €35,000), with an international German-speaking jury selecting projects for either the main prize or an Anerkennungspreis (commendation award). In 2025, Ars Docendi received 177 applications.

The Master’s module “Research-Oriented Teaching for Healthcare Architecture: Data-Driven Design for Social Infrastructure” at TU Wien was awarded an Anerkennungspreis (commendation prize) within Ars Docendi (category: research-/arts-led teaching) on 11 September 2025, with the jury praising its depth, structural innovation, and societal relevance.
